Celebrities have been known to own some pretty strange pets! A kangaroo once belonged to the King of Rock ‘n Roll (that’s Elvis, for those of you who are out of touch with EVERYTHING that is American), Michael Jackson was adventurous enough to own a chimp named Bubbles (chimps are notoriously vicious –seriously, you might lose your eyes!), and Melanie Griffith raised African lions, for crying out loud!
In those days, word of mouth was enough to get attention from fans, but in this internet-driven world, celebrity pet ownership is on a whole new rampage of online postings. We shouldn’t be surprised that famous rock stars, actors and political figures are enamored with their pets enough to bring them into the spotlight. But by the amount of Instagram followers and “likes” some of these pets have, it’s clear domestic pets of the “beautiful people” are finally getting their (more than) 15 minutes of fame.

Meredith Grey and Olivia Benson – Taylor Swift
These pampered kitties have their own embroidered tote bags for when their world-famous mom travels. As if uninterrupted face-time with Taylor wasn’t enough, these little babies have hundreds of thousands of likes on their many Instagram pictures. Who doesn’t want to see what these hind-leg standing munchkins are up to today? I mean, they live with Taylor Swift!
Lexi and Harley – Julianne Hough Ever-present on the actress’ busy Instagram, Hough describes her Cavalier King Charles Spaniels the first “real” loves of her life. Whether on hikes, plane flights, fancy restaurants or family vacations, Lexi and Harley are right by the dancing star’s side. (Rumor has it they will also be part of the wedding party when Hough ties the knot with her fiancé Books Laich soon!)
Shanti Om Bb, Kiki, & Lilo – Miley Cyrus When the wild starlet lost the canine love of her life, Floyd to a coyote attack, she filled the hole in her heat by adopting some kitties. Since Miley is hardly one to shy away from the cameras, her cat Shanti Om Bb has her own Instagram, so you can see the day-to-day of this living snow-ball anytime you like!
Honky and Tonky – Reese Witherspoon The Oscar winning actress steps way out of the domestic pet norm with her two darling donkeys Honky and Tonky. But can America’s blonde sweetheart really handle livestock? Apparently she is a pro! Witherspoon also owns three goats, 2 pigs, 20 chickens, three dogs, and a pony in addition to the donkeys!
Finn – Amanda Seyfried
Not only does Finn have his own Twitter account, he has co-starred in a short film with Amanda for Vogue Magazine. Reading the paper, chatting over kale salad and doing tricks, these two are forever friends that spend every moment they can together. This furry pup has hair just as pretty as his long-locked mama!
Bo and Sunny – President Obama So if you are a Portuguese Water Dog and your owner is the President of the United States, you and your pals might become famous. (Or maybe dad is just trying to improve trade relations with Portugal? Guess we’ll never know!)

Bambi, Norman and Bruce – Kylie Jenner A famous lover of animals, Kylie Jenner owns a couple of dogs and a bunny named Bruce! One of the Jenner pups (Norman, the Italian greyhound, to be exact) has an Instagram account that is 160K followers strong.
Kitty Purry – Katy Perry Oh, we love a good pet pun! Especially when a celebrity lets the cat out of the bag with a new funny name. Is it perhaps a little ego-centric for Ms. Perry, the self-described “cat-lady,” to name a cat after herself?
Esther Bieber – Justin (of the same last name; ever heard of it?). Finally, my dream of seeing the name Esther Bieber has come true! (I’m kidding.) This adorable little terrier dog has only recently debuted in the Insta-world, so get ready for another puppy obsession to start. Baby, baby, baby, oh!
