  1. Mastiffs. Though the Pharaoh Hound and a few other dog breeds can say the same.  But of that given list, only Mastiffs appeared.
  2. Lhasa Apso: Buddhist priests were believed to inhabit the bodies of these dogs when they died.
  3. Pekingese: Though this is not well known about this breed, their short noses make breathing labored especially when they sleep, causing them to snuffle and snore loudly.
  4. The Poodle: this seems like the obvious answer, but the name poodle is actually German from the word “pfudel” which means splash. They were originally bred as retrieving dogs, and are highly esteemed by the French.
  5. Labrador Retrievers are the all-around global favorite.
  6. The Airedale Terrier is a fantastic guard dog, hunter, tracker, and family pet. They are regarded as the terrier breed that can do it all.
  7. Dachshunds were taught to dig down after rabbits to chase them out for their hunting companions.
  8. Australian Cattle dogs tend to have grayish or blue/black coats and they are intelligent herding dogs.
  9. Alaskan Malamute: George Lucas’ personal pet named Indiana inspired him to create “Chewy” for the films.
  10. Basenji: These are often referred to the bark-free dog, though they make plenty of other noises instead.
  11.  Shar Pei: These dogs are also known for having unique purple tongues and dark pigmented skin.
  12. Labrador Retriever: These were originally descended from the St. John’s water dog found in Newfoundland.
  13. Zimbabwe was once called Southern Rhodesia.
  14. Chihuahuas are the smallest dog recognized by the AKC, as they weigh 2-6 pounds.
