It is hard to break down prejudices of any kind, particularly if you have reason to fear something. If your neighbor’s Doberman were to break free from the backyard and come charging toward you, that would be a frightening sight to behold. Dogs like Mastiffs, Pit Bulls, Huskies, Rottweilers, or Boerboels are beyond intimidating when they bare their teeth or growl ferociously. But it is important to remember that while breed aggression and instinctive tendencies do play into how a dog behaves later in life, much of the canine violence, biting and attacks occur from dogs who have been poorly trained, or mistreated. If you find yourself naturally afraid of a certain kind of dog breed, just remember that they were once cuddly little puppies, and if properly trained they could grow up to be the best pets in the world!
